Thirty years out of the same Ao Nang office

Barracudas Tour is a family-run boat operator based in Ao Nang, Krabi, running island-hopping day tours since 1992. More than thirty years on the water means our local captains and guides have learned Krabi through thousands of trips rather than from a map or a route sheet.

The islands do not look the same throughout the day. Tides change the beaches, the sandbanks and the access to certain places. Sea conditions change with the weather and the season. That is why we do not treat an itinerary as something to be followed blindly.

We work with the tides

Take Tub Island. Its most memorable feature is the sandbar that connects it to the islands beside it, and that sandbar is only there at low tide. The timing of the visit is the difference between walking across it and looking at open water.

Hong Lagoon works the other way around. Getting into the lagoon depends on the tide and the sea conditions on the day.

Our job is to understand those conditions and arrange the day around them. We want guests to actually experience the places they came to see, not arrive at a location, take a photograph and leave because the timing was wrong.

When sea conditions require a change, our captains can reorder the stops or swap one for another with safety in mind.

Local knowledge makes the difference

Our captains and guides live and work in Krabi. They know the waters, the islands, the tides and the seasonal changes. After thirty years that knowledge is part of how we operate every day.
